Post Match Verdict (Gameweek 32)

Bad Performance, Bad Decisions

We all kind of knew this would be a thrashing. It’s Newcastle away, physical side, full stadium, and we show up with a half-rotated squad and tired legs. But the biggest issue? Why were Bruno, Yoro, and Zirkzee even starting? The Premier League’s done. Top 5 is out of reach. We’ve got Lyon in a few days. This game meant nothing, and yet we risked key players—and lost one to injury.

What makes it worse is that the first half wasn’t even that bad. We looked organised, had moments, but completely fell apart after the break. Three second-half goals conceded. Zero control. Zero fight. And zero point pretending we care about this league anymore.

Individual Performances

Garnacho’s goal was a calm, composed finish. Hope we see that version of him more often—he’s still growing. Bruno and Zirkzee had some good link-up moments early on, smooth chemistry, but it fizzled out once Newcastle upped the pace. Garnacho was okay—not bad, not great—but finished well.

Midfield duo of Ugarte and Eriksen? Not it. Eriksen just can’t survive these high-intensity games anymore. Newcastle away was never going to be his stage. Might as well start an academy prospect at this point—it couldn’t be worse.

Defensively… shambles. Lindelöf shouldn’t be near the lineup. He looked completely lost. There’s a reason he’s often not even in the squad. Amass made his full PL debut, and honestly, fair play to him. Tough environment, half-rotated team, and he held his own. Moment of the game for me? When Amass got bullied in a corner, and Yoro came flying in to back him up—shoved the Newcastle lad like a big bro. Loved that.

Dalot’s been consistent again, and just when he started getting praise online, he goes flying into a mistimed challenge, and we get punished. That’s United right now—flashes of promise, then boom. It’s gone.

Goalkeeper Drama Continues

Onana was dropped—expected after the Lyon mess and the drama with Matic. But Byanidır didn’t exactly grab his chance either. Hard to blame him for everything, but conceding four goals never looks good. Right now, it feels like we don’t even have a first-choice keeper.

Thursday Is the Only Day That Matters

Let’s be honest—if we don’t beat Lyon on Thursday, the season’s done. No Champions League, no trophies, nothing. And just to make things worse, Zirkzee picked up an injury. Timing couldn’t be worse. It’d be so United to bottle it at home—but I’m hoping we don’t.

Europa League is all we’ve got. We lose that? It’s lights out.

See you after the tie.
