Brentford 4 — Manchester United 3

Another boring game that we just have to see past
Let’s be real, none of us cared much about this game either. The Premier League’s already done. And the way we started? Proved exactly why we mentally checked out weeks ago. Thomas Frank’s Brentford were sharp, aggressive, and pressing hard from the first whistle. Within 4 minutes, they nearly scored a sitter. Kevin Schade missed what should’ve been 1-0. Bayindir could’ve been in trouble there, but luckily the shot went over.
The only highlight early on for us was Chido getting his full 90-minute debut. Didn’t get many chances, barely saw the ball at times, but giving him the run-out was one positive. He’s young, raw, and was up against a strong Brentford side. Credit to him for battling through it.
Garnacho – the only one alive

Our first goal came from Garnacho being Garnacho. Took the ball down the left, low cross into the box, and Mason Mount slotted it calmly into the bottom right. 1-0 United. That should’ve been the platform. But no, obviously not.
Right after, we conceded, Amass lost an aerial duel because of his height. Ball bounced around in the box, deflected shot hit Luke Shaw and rolled into our own net. Bayindir tried, but no chance. 1-1.
Then came the moment that made everyone angry. De Ligt went down injured trying to challenge Wissa. He literally raised his hand for help and was in pain. Ref? Nothing. Play continued, Brentford crossed it in, and Schade scored with a free header. Again. Amass couldn’t win it, Fredricson caught watching. 2-1 Brentford.
De Ligt was finally subbed off after that. Bayindir made a strong save from his chest just before half-time to stop it from becoming 3-1. Halftime. Brentford leading. And we looked all over the place.
Second half collapse again

69th minute. Another cross. Another header. Kevin Schade again. Fun vibes if this were Sunday League. Fredricson didn’t mark well, but again, he’s a kid playing first-team ball. Hard to blame him when the senior players aren’t doing much either.
Then came the 4th. Mbeumo with a brilliant pre-assist. Split our whole defensive line with one clever pass. Kayode ran into open space, pulled it back, and Wissa finished with ease. Fredricson caught out again, but truthfully, the whole defence was gone.
Garnacho stunner, Amad moment

We pulled one back with Garnacho’s absolute screamer. Quick one-two with Eriksen, and then he curled it into the top corner from outside the box. Clean finish. Funny thing is, he couldn’t score a 1v1 in the Bilbao game a week later, but that’s for another blog.
And finally, Amad. 94th minute. Full speed, cut inside, and lashed it in with his left foot. Nothing but vibes. Wish he hadn’t been injured this season. The flair, the dribbling, the confidence — it’s all there.
Final whistle. Brentford 4, United 3. Another game where we gave ourselves no chance with how we defended. Could’ve gotten a point, maybe should’ve, but here we are again.
What now?

Scary part? De Ligt’s injury. Don’t know how bad it is yet, but fingers crossed he’s back for the Europa League final if we make it through. That’s the only thing that matters now.
I’ll be back for the Bilbao second leg post soon. Until then, rest the players, bin the league games, and let’s hope we don’t bottle the one competition that still matters.
Yanited forever. Peace.
