Post Match Verdict 25/26 (Gameweek 11)

Spurs 2-2 United

Late drama, same old problems

Dalot finally not starting was a relief. Still, almost every United fan was surprised to see Mazraoui in the lineup. The first 15 minutes were quiet, other than one Johnson cross to Richarlison who missed an easy header. Nothing much else happened.

Spurs weren’t sitting deep, which is strange since most teams get more attacking against us these days. United couldn’t put more than a couple of passes together, and not just the midfield; the whole team looked kind of lost.

Up to 30 minutes, it was the same old story. United seemed like a new team, no chemistry, no control just always thinking about the counter instead of trying to lead the game. After a whole year of Amorim, it’s not good to see.

But then, at 31 minutes, Amad found Mbeumo with a perfect cross. Mbeumo finished with a header. Clean goal and well deserved for both of them.

Missing spark up front

At the end of the half, one thing stood out Cunha at no. 9 isn’t working anymore. He just doesn’t add much, honestly, and barely saw the ball. Sesko should get a chance there time.

United didn’t improve much in the second half. Cunha and Bruno were slow to spot open runners. Around 53 and 55 minutes, Lammens made two huge saves to keep us ahead. Without him, Spurs could have taken the lead.

Mazraoui went off for Sesko, Amad moved to right wing-back. Cunha shifted to his best role at left ten. Bruno had a chance but missed badly, even after a nice touch. Maguire got injured, so Yoro and Ugarte came on for him and Casemiro, and Cunha made way for Mount and Ugarte. Good to see some fresh faces.

Not enough finishing, then sudden chaos

By the 75th minute, it was clear United needed three points. Dropping any would be a disappointment. Sesko missed another opening at 77 minutes set up by Mount, too hesitant to hit it first time. Confidence looked shaky. Then came the collapse.

At 83 minutes, Tel scored for Spurs, a quick finish in the box after a messy bit of defending, some unlucky deflection. Soon after, Sesko missed again, got injured, and United had to play with 10 men, they used up all subs, not good at all, especially if he’s out long term.

Apart from the goal, United barely created, mostly average and relying on Lammens saves.

Final twist, then bigger questions

Richarlison scored late, heading in Odobert’s shot, putting Spurs ahead. United looked poor and barely held on to any advantage. Then at 95 minutes, one last Bruno corner found De Ligt, who powered in a header to make it 2-2. United were lucky to escape with a point, but it’s still a letdown not to win. After a full year, the team’s identity is still hard to see.

Playing with 10 men felt embarrassing. The squad didn’t show enough, and Amorim should be criticised. A draw is fair, not deserved, and definitely not what fans want.

Till next time, YANITED YANITED YANITED.
